WWYD?

Let's say...

- You live in the Little Rock, Arkansas area.
- Your spouse will be gone all day Saturday, giving you a day with nothing to do and two daughters (7 and 2) to do it with.
- What would you do?

NOTE: The two-year-old is very high-energy and does not do well with one parent in crowds or around lots of traffic. Or in Target, so that's out, too.

I'm thinking the Museum of Discovery downtown. Any other thoughts?

Have you been to the Museum yet? I don't know that a 2-year-old would enjoy a lot of it. Some? Sure, but I don't know that it would keep you busy for as long as you want/need.

Have you been to Party Central on Alcoa Road yet? It's one of those inflatable-jumpy-thingy places. They may have open jumps on Saturdays.

Or Kidsports in Benton. They have an obstacle-course thing.

We did the museum when we first moved here. It kept Jenna busy for several hours. She loves to run around and look at stuff, and that's one place where she can do that to her heart's content.

Thanks for the info about the other places!

I'm alone w/ kids a lot. I try to get them really tired early on and hope for a nap later (or atleast a peaceful movie time). We go to the library, go for a walk at the arboretum or local college. Check out your local Art Center, ours has a sculpture path. I like to exercise and leave them at the nursery! The zoo is great in nice weather. I take them out to eat by myself too. (Jason's Deli is good b/c you can bribe w/ free ice cream!) Have a girls PJ party. Check out a movie and eat popcorn on the sofa. (a huge deal in my house!) My biggest suggestion is just do something different! Make the day special so they (and you) don't miss Daddy so much.

My kids and I like to "take adventures" together - usually when daddy is gone. We'll hop on public transportation (which takes longer and is so very exciting!) and head downtown. We'll find a tall building and take the elevator to the top, walk along the waterfront or go to the town square. The library and a big toy store are other favorite stops. Cheap and fun!

The Wonder Place on Rodney Parham in LR is really cool...they close early though--around 5 or so. The 2nd adult got in free the day we went.
