Pillow talk

Jenna and I had this conversation the other night when I was putting her to bed:

Jenna: Jesus loves me.

Me: Yes, Jesus loves you.

Jenna: Jesus loves... (looking around her room) ...butterflies?

Me: Yes, Jesus loves butterflies.

Jenna: Jesus loves... bunnies?

Me: Yes, Jesus loves bunnies.

Jenna: Jesus loves... cookies?

Me: Yes, Jesus loves cookies.

I love how there was no question mark at the end of her first comment. Just a statment of fact -Jesus loves her.

It puts an image in my head of Jesus tearing into a bag of Pepperidge Farm Milanos saying, "I love these things!"

It is called the "going to bed" stall tactic. Used frequently with children of Christian parents. They realize that any mention of anything holy is cute and will buy them another 10 minutes or so. I speak from experience.

...those precious ten more minutes of time spent listening to our three kids about their day before bed time...the best memories..not tv shows, dishes, or clothes to fold...Deana thank you for sharing. lisa:)
