Target revisited.

And revisited...and revisited...

Earlier this week, Chad discovered that I had made five purchases at Target in 48 hours. I think it's a record for me. And it's one that I'm proud of.

I was back there this morning. There were things I really did need but of course I got some other stuff, too. I got a late birthday present for Michelle since I'll be seeing her tomorrow. I got some lotion because I'm addicted to it. And I got a really cute pink and green paisley sash -- the kind you can wear as a scarf or a belt or whatever -- for ONE DOLLAR AND SEVENTY-FOUR CENTS.

I have added that last purchase to the most exciting purchases I have ever made at Target. Here are the others:

- Handel's Messiah in its entirety for a buck at The 1 Spot.
- Two Pilates DVDs, also for a buck each at The 1 Spot.
- The perfect sweater. It's a Merona with extra-long sleeves like Susan wears on Desperate Housewives. I liked it so much I bought two in different colors. $14.99 each.

I know someone who works at Target and today and she told me that when my newspaper column about my Target-a-holism came out, their HR person made a zillion copies and hung them up in the breakrooms, check-outs, etc. for all the employees to see. She also said all the employees know who I am and notice when I'm in there. I don't know if that's good or not...

I bought two long-sleeved cardigans there for $3.24 Tuesday. Was late to lunch with Carol and Julie, but they totally understood. Love those clearance racks!

Can I get some more details on "the perfect sweater"? I am all about extra-long sleeves...being that I have extra-long arms.

Jana -- I don't know if they still have them because I bought them last summer. I'll look online and see what I can find.

Jana -- I found it! The one in the pic I found is black, but I bought them in maroon and kind of a sage green. It's at http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=2-5/qid=1138305469/ref=sr_2_5/601-8487877-7396930?%5Fencoding=UTF8&asin=B0009PYB8I

A general and specific question. General - are deals getting so ridiculously good that a good deal now constitutes a freebie? My wife bought a really cool, in-style shirt at the Gap for like $6 - and she wasn't that impressed - it almost solicited a yawn as she told me.
Specific question - do you own stock in Target's parent company - Dayton/Hudson? If not, buy some - or better yet, see if they'll just give you a share or two every time you enter the store.

Love the deals. I got a full duvet cover for $7.48 and other matching stuff. I also found place-mats and dish towels that match it for under a dollar each. The towels will make a window topper with some creativity and grosgrain ribbon, and the placemats will make decorative pillows. I can't stop. The colors are yummy. It has a beachy theme with hibiscus on one side and stripes on the other. Sorry for the detail and gloat. Just so proud.

That girls weekend sounds cool! I bet the girls have a lot of fun .. . and are greatly edified by it.

Target. . .well, you always have to do more shopping before a trip (no matter how short it is), right?

For the record, I went to Food Town today and NOT Target. But I'd hate to make a liar out of my husband, so...Target, here I come!

    Deana,

Do you have the new home decor section in your Target - the one with items helpfully labeled by their country of orgin? I keep telling myself that my frequent trips there are really geography lessons. And if you have young children with you ... BONUS! The trips become educational for them.

Target-o-holism...so my addiction DOES have a name! Nice to know I'm in good company.

The Target where I live (Alpharetta, GA) has been newly-renovated. You walk in the door and to your left is the dollar section and to your right is Starbucks. Before you know it, an hour has passed and you're barely through the front door!!!
