The Artist

Last night we got to go to an art reception in which Julia was one of the featured artists. It was a fundraiser for the Lee College ceramics department. Julia had taken a "Kids at College" art class a couple of months ago and got to paint a platter for the fundraiser. Other artists included the other kids in her art class, art majors at Lee College and Lee College faculty and staff. The platters were auctioned off last night. It was very exciting for Julia, who has switched her career ambitions from marine biology to art. You can go to this website, scroll down to #16 and see Julia's platter. It shows a bid for $10 from before the event, but we bid $20 at the event. I hope we got it!

Before the auction, we ate at Someburger, a GREAT locally-owned burger joint, where Jenna acted like a complete nutcase the entire time. An older couple sitting near us mentioned that they had ten grandchildren. Chad said, "You want another one?" The man looked at us without cracking a smile and said "No, thanks."

I hope you won the platter, it is awesome! If we only had a nickle for everytime our kids embarrassed us in public, we would all be millionaires! We had an older man offer us a nickle for our daughter one time and we have often thought we should have taken him up on his offer! ;0) My Dad who is totally smitten with his only grandaughter, told us not to do it, that he would give us a quarter! Kids they sure provide us with a lot of love and laughter don't they!

That is really a clever fundraiser. I loved Julia's platter and it should have gone for a lot more in my humble opinion.

BTW, do you know what is up with the handicapped icon by the word verification window below this window?

ML -- I tried it out and it says the letters out loud, I guess in case you are vision impaired. But then why would you be on the net in the first place?

My thought exactly. I tried it out and it didn't read letters at all, it said numbers. the numbers couldn't have corresponded to letters either because it was a different amount. Weird. How secure is it though if the anyone can click on the little sign and get it called out to them? I'm going to try using what the little "voice" says. Let's see if this works.
Nope, didn't work. I probably have to have a visually impaired setting on my computer or something. Ha.
