Snow Day in March
Pure, unadulterated joy abounded in our house this morning. That's because we woke up to this:
Even more important, we also woke up to this announcement on TV: "BRYANT SCHOOL DISTRICT -- CLOSED." (When these words scrolled across the screen, Julia and I hugged each other and jumped up and down and screamed.)
So we dug out whatever snow clothes we could find and got busy having fun in the front yard.
Julia loves a good snowball fight.
Jenna loves catching it on her tongue. (It was still coming down pretty hard while we were out there.)
Snow angel by Julia. Pretty good, huh?
The four of us had constructed this little guy by 8 a.m. (He has banana chips for eyes.) By that time, the wind had picked up and we were pretty cold. "There's a reason I moved away from Alaska," Chad said as we headed inside.
UPDATE: The snowman at 2:30 p.m. Sorry, buddy. Life is short.

What I find funny is that that was enough snow to cancel school. I drove my oldest to school through 12 inch drifts last week -- seriously!!

As you know, we rarely get true snow in north Texas - most of the time it's ice.
But one of the great things about north Texas snow is that it usually only lasts 24 hours. Just about the time you start getting sick of the snow, the temp suddenly warms up to 70 degrees!
Great memories for the kids, though!

We had snow here in Oklahoma today too. My 5 year old didn't have to go to school, and he was so excited, it hasn't snowed this much here since he was 1. He got to build his first snowman and he had a blast.

yep, we had a good laugh that it snowed last night and was 60 degrees this afternoon! And I was SO, SO happy that they didn't cancel school here.
