Tsk Tsk...I remember a time in our not too recent past where the President was honored.
Yes, GWB can be funny, but let's not make fun of him. Let us give him his place of honor as being our leader. I would say the same thing if John Kerry had won.
I believe presidents have always been honored. But they've also always been targets for ridicule. Will Rogers joked about the president, and you'll find political cartoons about leaders as far back as the colonial newspapers that poked fun at the King of England. None of our leaders have been infallible, and it is one of our freedoms as Americans to acknowledge that publicly. And have a little fun with it.
I don't think GWB is stupid. I just think public speaking is not his forte. Even Laura Bush has joked about his slip-ups. And really, if I said "I've got to put food on my family" on national TV, I'd expect someone, somewhere, to at least snicker.
I'm a wife, mom and writer. I'm a Texan who just happens to live in Little Rock, Arkansas. I love watching my children when they're sleeping. I love rock music way too much. My husband is the most incredible blessing God has given me. I eat right out of the ice cream carton when no one's around.
