A Music Game

I found this on Chris Campbell's blog and Corey Patterson's blog. I thought I would give it a try. The idea is this:

1. Go to musicoutfitters.com and, in the search box provided, enter the year you graduated high school. For me, that would be 1989.
2. From the search results, click the link for the top 100 songs of that year.
3. With the resulting list:

1. Bold the songs you like
2. Italicize the ones you hate
3. Underline your favorite
4. Ignore the ones you don't remember/don't care about.

NOTE: I did my list to reflect how I feel about these songs NOW. If I put how I felt about these songs back then, the list would probably look a lot different.

A few comments:

1) I like Bon Jovi, but "I'll Be There for You" is just plain stupid. Here are some lines to illustrate my point:

- "I heard your suitcase say goodbye"
- "I didn't mean to miss your birthday, baby
I wish I'd seen you blow those candles out" (After this line comes a blood-curdling wail courtesy of either Jon Bon Jovi or Ritchie Sambora. It's one of the most ridiculous moments in rock history.)

2) "Bust a Move" has one of the best rhymes ever: "She's dressed in YELLOW, she says "HELLO, come sit next to me, ya fine FELLOW!"

3) Yes, I still like Madonna. Always have. Deal with it.

4) I had pretty much had it with no-talent hair bands (Warrent, Skid Row, etc.) by the end of the '80s.

5) New Kids on the Block made me rethink my feelings on murder.

I had no idea you held such an affection for Paula Abdul...

But then again who wouldn't have been impressed by her ability to balance that 80s hair so gracefully...

Did I mention that I not only had her Barbie Dance Video as a little girl, but had a roommate with a VHS of her music videos when we were in college?...Tragedy.

This might be something for me to do in about 10 years...

LOVE Young MC...but HOW DARE YOU refer to Skid Row in the same breath that you use the phrase "no talent." Sebastian Bach should come to your house with the entire Skid Row catalog and MAKE YOU LISTEN TO ALL OF IT!!!

Thanks for the idea. That is fun. It looks like you weren't one for the sappy love songs/power ballads. Here is a link to an accapella group who had done a template to the boy bands love songs. I think you will get a kick out of it.

The link I posted has problems with the sound. Here is another link that might give you an idea of how it sounds

You are too funny -- and this is too fun. I do agree on the Paula Abdul issue - Paula Abdul - really? Ok, whatever. And, shouldn't Milli Vannili be stricken from the record books?
